Tarunda IGA celebrates second birthday and healthy eating

Tarunda IGA held an Open Day on Thursday, February 21, 2013 to celebrate it's second birthday as well as a new book full of local recipes.

Nindilingarri Cultural Health Services has produced the new book called The Fitzroy Valley Cook Book, Volume 1 which is full of healthy recipes from Valley communities. It was launched at the Open Day which was attended by many in the community who enjoyed a sample of the recipes in the book.

Tarunda IGA General Manager Kevin Murakami said the event was a community celebration and the result of a partnership between two key groups in Fitzroy - Tarunda IGA, owned by Leedal, and the non-government organisation Nindilingarri Cultural Health Services.

He said the produce available at Tarunda IGA was fresh and affordable and the supermarket was committed to supporting the healthy eating messages promoted in the new book.

Six months later the new state-of-the-art Tarunda IGA was opened by the Hon. Wendy Ducan MLC, National Party member for the Mining and  Pastoral region, and Shire of Derby-West Kimberley president Elsia Archer.

Leedal Chief Operating Officer John Rodrigues said two years on and the new supermarket was a huge success with weekly specials available for Fitzroy people and the best fresh produce in the region.
