More than sixty children took fitness and fun to the extreme each day over the Easter break in Fitzroy Crossing when Specky Dreaming came to town.

For four evenings, children lined up to be part of the new footy frenzy which has only been to a few locations in Australia to date.

Dion Brownfield, one of the masterminds behind the Darwin-based Indigenous Hip Hop Project, is the man behind Specky Dreaming. It is a highly engaging free football event which involves inflatable equipment to teach endurance and skills - keeping children fit while having fun.

A sponsorship by Yapawarnti Fund enabled Specky Dreaming to come to Fitzroy and the Women's Centre provided accommodation for the Specky crew.

"Big shout out to Yapawarnti for supporting Specky Dreaming in Fitzroy Crossing for the school holidays, it was so awesome to see so many young people participating, getting active, chucking Speckys and talking about positive health, Remember to make water your number one choice, and try to eat 2 fruit 5 veg a day," Dion said.

Yapawarnti and Specky Dreaming would like to thank everyone who assisted with making the event possible for the children of Fitzroy, including the Shire for providing the venue.

The Yapawarnti Fund is set up to invest in the youth of Fitzroy Crossing and surrounding communities. Leedal Pty Ltd provides the funding for Yapawarnti but welcomes partnerships to deliver stronger programs and contributions to the Fund. For more information, go to "Donate Now" on our website.
